There was a time when people didn’t believe in Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy. This was back when his album, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, was so ill-received by Reprise Records that it was rejected outright and the band was kicked off the label. So Tweedy streamed the album on Wilco’s website, proceeded to sell more than 600,000 copies of it, and found a new label. He’s led the band through numerous incarnations (he and bassist John Stirratt have been the only constant members since 1994), but the alt-rock riffs have remained consistent through the years. Moral of this story? In Tweedy we trust.
