While Peru's ancient Wari people lacked a written language, it's believed the civilization used works of art as a means of communication. For this particular exhibit, the more than 140 pieces--including beautifully crafted ceramics, precious metals, vibrant mosaics, sculptured wood and stone, and complex textiles--are divided into four themes: "The Gift of Food and Drink," "The Wari Realm," "The Art of Regalia," and "Offerings and Ancestors."
