We think it's fairly safe to say that Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the most classic tales of the 20th century. Lee won a Pulitzer for her 1960 novel, the story of Scout Finch's childhood in Depression-era Alabama, where racism is rampant, and the book soon after spawned a Hollywood adaptation starring Gregory Peck that was nominated for eight Oscars. Scout's life changes dramatically when her father, Atticus Finch, becomes the court-appointed lawyer for black man accused of assaulting a poor white woman.
