After three decades with one of the most recognized names in independent music—Sonic Youth, on indefinite hiatus—Thurston Moore simply could have coasted on his band’s reputation without contributing much else.  However, the man’s never been one to live so lazily, juggling the hats of label owner, documentary narrator, and author whenever the mood strikes.  He’s also stayed fairly active musically outside of the group, releasing a third solo album, Demolished Thoughts, in late 2011. The record is a mostly acoustic departure from the electric din of Sonic Youth and even his own earlier material. Be warned: Moore is known to occasionally recite poetry between songs. Fitting, since he recently published a book of poems entitled Lion. The historic old movie theater’s eclectic cultural approach makes for a perfect philosophical setting to hear Moore be himself for an evening, no matter which self takes the stage.
