About
Inspired by the perennially popular film The Wizard of Oz, this Motown rock-and-soul musical took Broadway by storm in 1975, winning seven Tony Awards. The subsequent film version starred the late, great Michael Jackson as the Scarecrow and Diana Ross as Dorothy. We’re pretty sure that if anyone can “ease on the down the road” as well as those two, it’s Dallas Theater Center company member Liz Mikel and newcomer James T. Lane, who made his Broadway debut in the revival of A Chorus Line. DTC’s artistic director, Kevin Moriarty, personally takes the helm on this almost too ideal to be true collaboration with the Dallas Black Dance Theatre. There’s no place like home, indeed.
