One of our country’s premier ballet companies is heading our way for two days of unforgettable performances that mix the classic with the contemporary. Based in Chicago, the Joffrey Ballet claims a couple of enviable “firsts.” For example, it was the first dance company to perform at the White House (at the request of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, no less) and the first and only dance company to appear on the cover of Time magazine. During its stop in Dallas, the company will perform Edwaard Liang’s “Age of Innocence,” Christopher Wheeldon’s “After the Rain,” and Russian composer Igor Stravinsky’s orchestral ballet “Le Sacre du Printemps [The Rite of Spring].”
