If you were between the ages of 15 and 30-something in 1994 and lived in Tulsa, Okla., you probably know about Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey. At the time, this band buzzed with the kind of energy one typically sees at a 5-year-old’s birthday party—after the cake and pony rides—and they had a sound not often heard in those parts. Fast forward 16 years, and they’re still delivering their fusion of jazz, funk and fun, though only Brian Haas remains from the original lineup. And yes, this show is well worth the trip out to Denton.
