The Dallas Chamber Symphony seems to have cornered the market on the “live music set to film” thing, smartly pairing stunning silent films of old with new scores. This evening promises thrills and chills with The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, director Robert Wiene’s strange and stylized 1920s German horror film. It’s widely considered one of the best monster movies of the silent era, and we get to experience it accompanied by composer Brian Satterwhite’s original music. The DCS will play other works, conducted by Richard McKay, to round out the evening.
