The Band of Heathens at the Granada
- March 23, 2013 7 pm
After getting their start in the tiny (and now-defunct) Austin establishment Momo's, it was a quick rise to fame for Band of Heathens. The group performed at Austin City Limits only a few years after forming, and it's enough to make one yearn for a Dallas-based version of the program, so that we, too, could launch our deserving artists to stardom. The group prefers to avoid the well-worn subject matter and tendencies of their country-rock contemporaries by writing songs about Hunter S. Thompson ("L.A. County Blues") and covering songs by legendary Texas weirdos, The 13th Floor Elevators ("You're Gonna Miss Me"). Shinyribs open.
