Regardless of whether you bleed orange or maroon, there's one thing we southerners can all agree on: barbecue should be taken very, very seriously. Pitmasters from both states will be pitted against one another (we know) to see who can smoke up the best St. Louis ribs. Champion pitmaster gets $1,000 and bragging rights; you get to enjoy a seriously stellar rib plate along with a libation of your choice (as long as that choice is beer, wine, or a margarita). Eleven Hundred Springs, Norman’s Damn Quails, and Backporch Mary will perform, so bring blankets to spread out on the lawn. For more info, see SideDish.
