Terrence Malick Retrospective

Director Terrence Malick's sixth film in 42 years, Tree of Life, recently took top honors at Cannes. Audience reactions were clearly divided (“Pretentious with a capital ‘P,’” one critic shouted at a recent screening. “Admit, at least, that it is the work of a singular intellect,” another critic retorted) on whether this was a work of genius or a steaming pile of you know what. You'll be able to judge for yourself soon enough, but before the film has its official premiere, the Dallas Film Society is hosting a retrospective of Malick's other work. They'll kick things off with one of our favorites, Badlands, and continue with Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line.
