The relationship between composer Charles Ives and poet E.E. Cummings isn't much. They were both representative of New England in the early 20th century, but that's about it. Still, the tenuous connection didn’t stop contemporary acoustic chamber group Tin Hat from weaving their two disparate aesthetic and artistic mediums into a single evening of music. Tin Hat will be joined by decorated pianist Gilbert Kalish for an exploration of music and words. It really is a brilliant pairing, especially when you consider the fact that today's musicians are still grappling with the modernist Ives’ experimental compositions, and there'll never be a shortage of lovesick college students wanting tattoos of lines from "i carry your heart."
