The Dallas-born, countrified Americana band Somebody’s Darling did a Daytrotter session last year showcasing tracks from their latest effort, Jank City Shakedown. The album was actually born out of a successful Kickstarter campaign, which means their fans, local or otherwise, reached deep into their pockets for new tunes such as “Wedding Clothes” and “Back to the Bottle.” It’s a model that’s worked for band members Anna Farris, David Ponder, Nate Wedan, Mike Talley, and Wade Cofer before—2011’s LP Black Eyes and Alibi was crowdfunded, too. Hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Fort Worth’s Quaker City Night Hawks and Dallas-based Goodnight Ned support.
