About
Olga Kern has some ties to Fort Worth, namely that she became the first woman in more than three decades to win the Van Cliburn competition back in 2001. She's also got a few things in common with the Russians, namely that she is one.
So it only seems fitting that Kern is returning to the scene of her biggest competitive victory to perform a nearly all-Russian program at the Bass Performance Hall. The evening starts off with Clara Schumann's Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann and Robert Schumann's Carnaval. The second portion includes Rachmaninoff's Six Etudes-tableaux and Five Preludes, Balakirev's Islamey, and Scriabin's Sonata No. 9.
