Can you can-can en pointe? The Royal Winnipeg Ballet certainly can. It’s fin de siècle Paris at the Moulin Rouge, and the beautiful Nathalie has recently been co-opted into Harold Zidler’s chorus line. Nathalie shakes her skirts with growing reluctance as she pines for starving artist Matthew while Zidler—once her benefactor— becomes terrifyingly possessive. This isn’t Baz Luhrmann’s world of magical realism, but the story ends the same: tragically.
