The last time the former frontman of The Smiths performed in Dallas, it was to a packed McFarlin Auditorium where the singer was already pre-forgiven for a botched verse or two. Such is the loyalty of Morrissey’s famously devoted fan base, which is as committed as it is ethnically diverse—there has even been an entire documentary devoted to the artist’s curiously large number of Hispanic fans. Oddly enough, though, the singer seems to shine brighter on a larger stage, so the Palladium Ballroom should prove a better setting than the intimacy of the McFarlin. Longtime fans are usually rewarded for their attention span, and sets are often bookended by dusty yet beloved Smiths’ singles.
