At seven years young, this film festival is no longer fledgling. The fun starts with the Penn and Teller-produced documentary Tim's Vermeer, an exploration of a software genius Tim Jenison's wacky theory that the dutch realist painter Johannes Vermeer was really just "painting by numbers," so to speak. Other films over the course of the weekend include Tokyo Story, Philomena, and Bob Birdnow's Remarkable Tale of Human Survival and the Transcendence of Self. The last one is from the Texas Theatre's Eric Steele, and features local actors and other assorted talent.
