We never really boarded the "Bawitabada" bus, but a lot of people really like Kid Rock, rap-rocker turned bluesy country star with the conservative political bent to match. His song, "Born Free," was Mitt Romney's presidential campaign theme, and he performed at several of the former Republican nominee's rallies. He's a registered Republican, and there's not question he's gotten rich off a long career and hits such as "Picture," "All Summer Long," and, yes, "Bawitabada." But whatever his politics, he recently made news as a man of the people, mandating that tickets to his tour with Uncle Kracker cost $20 (well, with taxes and fees, $29.42, but those are technicalities). In comparison, the Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake summer spectacle is priced as high as $279 for a ticket and Beyonce tops out at $253. The Atlantic has called him a "progressive rock hero." Okay, maybe. Either way, it makes us like him just that much more.
