It's never easy to blaze your own trail when your father is one of the foremost Western novelists of the modern era, but James McMurtry has done just that. Instead following in his dad's literary footsteps, the younger McMurtry picked up the guitar at a young age and starting churning out Americana folk rock with a mix of Dylan and Petty in his vocal lines. Listen for "Just Us Kids," "Bayou Tortous," and "We Can't Make It Here."
