Human trafficking may be perceived as a distant issue largely taking place outside of our borders, but did you know that it's a problem that affects countless untold victims in North Texas? Unfortunately it's true, and though those suffering from one of the most grievous abuses of human rights may go largely unnoticed, their plight is very real. Mosaic Family Services is a Dallas-based non-profit that provides shelter, counseling, and legal services for one of our most invisible and at-risk populations, and Al Biernat is generously hosting the inaugural event supporting the organization—the First Annual Fashion for Freedom Luncheon. Mayor Mike Rawlings will give remarks, which ties in to his anti-domestic violence campaign, since victims of trafficking, familial and spousal abuse are often one and the same. The fashion portion of the event will involve a show by designer and human rights activist Abi Ferrin, as well as a line from Juliette Longuet, in her Dallas debut. Drinks will be served at 11 am, with a trunk show following the runway portion of the proceedings.
