About

After spending much of his adolescence in Oklahoma City, artist Ed Ruscha eventually found his influence on the road. His paintings and photographs depict everything from the gas stations of rural Texas to the topography of downtown Los Angeles, and the artist draws his subject matter almost exclusively from the Western United States. This particular exhibit of his lithographs draws from his time in California, photographing single words—signs, really—against a seemingly infinite backdrop. The most famous is his series of lithographs of the Hollywood sign.
