If there's such a thing as a musical pedigree, Drive-By Truckers' frontman Patterson Hood has it. Hood's dad founded the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, where he played with and produced for acts from Paul Simon to Willie Nelson to The Rolling Stones. Following in his father's footsteps, Patterson has headed his own band since 1996 and churned out Southern-inspired rock with a country twang. "The Righteous Path" is still one of our favorites, but the band's newest album, The Big To-Do, has a few instant classics, like "Birthday Boy" and "This F******g Job."
