About
What’s hilarious, one act long, and sung in English? This family-friendly opera. Produced as a collaboration between the Dallas Children’s Theater and the Dallas Opera, the idea was to create an accessible, affordable show. They’ve succeeded— tickets are just five bucks, the cast comprises SMU performing arts students, and the opera, written by Georges Bizet when he was just 18 years old, is nice and light. A young man in love with the mayor’s daughter disguises himself as both a servant who makes a “poison” omelet and the doctor who has to save the family. Will the couple get their happy ending? We sure hope so.
