Dallas Symphony Orchestra maestro Jaap van Zweden offers a dizzying primer of famed German composer Richard Wagner's operatic oeuvre. The program includes two selections from Lohengrin, the romantic tragedy from which we derive the traditional "Here Comes the Bride" wedding march, and the prelude to the more comedic Die Meistersinger. The grand finale–and the piece de resistance, one might say—is the DSO's interpretation of Die Walküre, Act One. The Valkyrie, as the title translates, draws from Norse mythology and promises spine-tinglinh, soul-stirring musical drama.
