For more than 30 years, Dallas Black Dance Theatre has produced powerful performances that stand out among the best in the local dance scene, but the group is trying to outdo itself as it kicks off its new season. DBDT will present DanceAfrica, which combines art, music, and community events with dance choreographed by DanceAfrica founder Chuck Davis. The weekend will also include the hip-hop/traditional African blend of Philadelphia's Illstyle & Peace Productions, local African drum and dance ensemble Bandan Koro, and appearances by the Dallas Black Dance Theatre II and the African Dance Ensemble from Booker T. Washington High School.
