About

The Dallas International Film Festival kicks off with a glitzy opening night event at the Winspear. The evening will honor Liener Temberlin, founder and chairman emeritus of the festival,  actress Ann-Margret (who also stars in Lucky, premiering the next night). Ann-Margret will receive the DALLAS Star Award for her fifty-year career in entertainment. After the congratulations, catch the screening of Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey, a feel good documentary that follows the life and creative work of Kevin Clash, the man behind the Sesame Street character Elmo. It combines a whopping six years of footage with archival clips, and director Constance Marks will be in attendance along with producer Corinne Lapook. To further glamorize your night, mosey down the block to the Crow Collection for a post-ceremony gala (but only if you've shelled out for $150 ticket).
