About
It’s not technically Shakespeare, which may seem strange for a group dedicated to the Bard (Shakespeare Dallas). But Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac is still a classic in its own right, with memorable characters and rhyming couplets to carry the audience through the story. Cyrano, the title character, is cursed with an excessively large nose, an affliction he feels will preclude him from earning the love of a woman. So when a handsome-yet-dim guardsman named Christian asks for Cyrano’s help in writing love letters to lure the beautiful Roxanne, Cyrano obliges, believing that he’d never have a chance anyway. But when Roxanne swoons over what she believes to be Christian’s exceptional way with words, Cyrano is left to question with whom her love truly lies.
