It's hard to believe that it's only been four years since the Dallas Theater Center moved into their digs at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre. The multi-purpose, completely customizable space has transformed to fit everything from freewheeling productions of blockbuster Broadway musicals and Shakespeare to chamber operas and two-man dramas. Those hard, flat green chairs might be a bit uncomfy, but if that's our biggest complaint, we think it's safe to say they do good work. CenterStage, their annual black tie affair, helps fund the Dallas Theater Center's educational programs as well as their increasingly ambitious seasons, chock-full of collaborations, commissions, and new works. The incomparable Liz Mikel and former acting company member Cedric Neal, who performed together in the DTC's production of The Wiz, headline the gala.
