If you thought the Middle Ages were a dark and dreary time and that Catholic clergymen were, well, no fun, allow the Dallas Symphony Orchestra to show you otherwise. Carl Orff's popular classical masterwork, Carmina Burana, is composed of (mostly) Medieval Latin poems set to music. These poems aren't quite an illustration of pious Christian life but rather satires of moral teachings and songs about romance (aw) and drinking (Toby Keith's in good company). The Dallas Symphony Orchestra will tackle this "heady musical celebration of fate, fortune, life, and love," with maestro Jaap van Zweden at the helm and the Dallas Symphony Chorus. Rounding out the program is soloist Alexander Kerr, performing Barber's Violin Concerto.
