Caravaggio and His Followers in Rome

It’s a little amusing for us to imagine 16th-century artist Caravaggio on Twitter, amassing tons of followers (and lots of Klout, of course) for tweets we imagine would be both baroque and rather droll. In all seriousness, though, this exhibit brings together works by the influential artist himself and others who were the first to respond to his visionary style. Artists from all over Europe traveled to the papal city and emulated his methods (painting directly on canvas rather than composing a series of drawings first) to help usher in a new century of divine interpretation.
