Beirut front man Zach Condon was a straight-A student from Santa Fe, New Mexico, before he dropped out of school at age 16 to frolic around Europe, where he was introduced to Balkan music. Beirut, originally a solo project, was born, combining Balkan folk with indie-pop rock. Listen for “Postcards from Italy.”
