Beacon of Hope Luncheon

The Grant Haliburton Foundation is honoring seven-time Olympic medalist Amanda Beard for her outspoken battle with depression, body-image, and self-mutilation. Her compelling memoir, In the Water, They Can't See You Cry, recalls Beard's psychological distress with drugs and alcohol, bulimia, and self-cutting. In an effort to bring further awareness to these types of struggles, the luncheon is presented by W-H-E-R-E, an organization of women who work to positively impact the lives of young people with emotional or mental distress.
