A live Baths performance isn’t for everyone. Classically trained solo artist Will Wiesenfeld hunches calmly behind his laptop as a torrent of strange electronic sounds thunder over the crowd. The music is predominantly instrumental, which is also an acquired taste. But a patient crowd is eventually rewarded, as the more disconnected attempts slowly reveal moments of harmony and melody. Baths’ strength comes from toying with those contrasts, which has made the act a favorite on the grand stages of big-ticket music festivals. Rather unsurprisingly, he’s a hit overseas as well. Young Fathers supports.
