The Dallas Symphony Orchestra invites another Dutchman to the stand for this concert of classical German masters, such as Haydn and Bach—and not just Johann, but his son, Carl Phillip Emanuel (C.P.E.), too. The younger Bach was a gifted composer in his own right, and he used his knowledge of his father's traditional style to modernize Baroque music for a new age. Ton Koopman, a specialist in early music who will also delight us on the harpischord, conducts the orchestra in a program that showcases Baroque's range, from the heavily ornate sound that marks the music's roots to the breezier transformations associated with C.P.E. You'll hear C.P.E. Bach's Symphony in G, Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2, Pietro Locatelli's Introduzione teatrale, C.P.E. Bach's Symphony in D, and Joseph Haydn's Sinfonia Concertante.
