What are your favorite restaurants in Dallas?

I love Salum and Stephan Pyles. I frequently have lunch at Screen Door because One Arts Plaza is practically next door to my office in the Winspear Opera House, and I love the salads there. I also tend to go anywhere that has the word “Café” in the name: Café Madrid, Café Istanbul or Café Express.

What are your favorite shops in Dallas?

I should have a bumper sticker that reads “I Brake for Estate Sales." On weekends, I love to go treasure hunting and have found some wonderful things. I also collect ethnographic art, and have found several valuable pieces at estate sales over the years.

What are your favorite hangouts in Dallas?

When I have friends visiting from out of town, I try to take them to the Arboretum, the downtown museums (the DMA, the Nasher, and the Crow Collection) or take them over to Fort Worth to visit the Kimbell and the Modern Art Museum.

What are your favorite venues in Dallas?

I spend a lot of time at the Winspear — not only for Dallas Opera performances, but also for TITAS events, Texas Ballet Theater, and touring productions on the Lexus Broadway Series. I also try to see everything at the Dallas Theater Center, so I spend a lot of time in the Arts District. I'm also a huge film buff, so I spend what little free time I have at the Magnolia, the Angelika, and the AMC NorthPark catching up on movies.
